Types of Funds

SurreyCares provides several ways to help you improve the lives of others in our community. We have both investment and community expertise to ensure impact for your charitable giving.

A personally named fund can be created with a gift of $10,000 (or $1,000 to start-up). This fund can be customized to meet your personal charitable giving objectives, which may include:

Memorializing a loved one, or encouraging a family tradition of charitable giving

Creating a lasting legacy, or providing community support in the short-term

Establishing an educational award (scholarships)

Leaving an estate gift to SurreyCares Community Foundation

Choose between these two fund structures:

Donor Advised Fund

Donor Advised Funds are the most popular way to give at SurreyCares Community Foundation. Similar to a private foundation, a Donor Advised Fund enables individuals and families to establish a charitable endowment fund, receive a donation tax receipt and then recommend grants over time. A personally named fund can be created with a gift of $10,000 (or $1,000 to start-up) and will be customized to meet your charitable objectives. Grants can be made to any registered Canadian charity, or any of our Charitable Causes. Our volunteer advisors will evaluate grant applications annually on your behalf, ensuring your granting dollars will have the most impact. Choose from these Charitable Causes: Community Impact · Addressing Homelessness · Animal Welfare · Arts & Culture · Children & Families · Education · Environment · Health · Social Services · Youth You also have options for the fund’s long term planning after your passing. You can appoint a friend or family member as the Successor Fund Advisor, or ask SurreyCares Community Foundation to carry out long term support for specific charities or our Charitable Causes.
