13 charities showcase how 2018 SurreyCares grants enabled their services

Children at-risk or victimized by violence or sexual exploitation, and people with medical, physical or developmental disabilities will be among the broad range of people benefiting from the awards granted to 13 charitable winners of the 2018 grant competition by SurreyCares Community Foundation.

The public and journalists are invited to see the heart-warming stories from 13 award-winning charities showcasing how their wonderful work is actively benefiting Surrey’s diverse population at the September 20th annual celebration hosted by SurreyCares. The 2018 event will kickoff the yearlong celebration of SurryCares 25th anniversary of serving Surrey.

One of last year’s grant recipients was Surrey’s SOS Children’s Village (SOS BC), the only foster care village of its kind in Canada. The grants they received helped them fund programs, such as their Transition to Adulthood Program.

“The support of SurreyCares has been absolutely important in the work we’ve done” SOS BC Executive Director Douglas Dunn said. “Going to the grant awards, networking and connecting with other grant recipients, that helps us as part of a wider community work together more effectively.”

“SurreyCares helps facilitate that strengthening of community capacity, and we can’t say enough about their support.”
