The YMCA of Greater Vancouver
The YMCA of Greater Vancouver strengthens the foundation of community by helping children and families thrive; promoting healthy living; and, fostering belonging and connection. In Vancouver, we have been helping people reach their potential since 1886.
Thousands of women, men, children, teenagers, and families from many different backgrounds across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley call the YMCA their second home. The YMCA serves the community by being responsive, relevant and by delivering a positive impact. Thanks to our Centres of Community, the YMCA has a significant footprint that enables us to serve more than 116,000 people each year – we are proud that 45% of those people are under the age of 18.
The YMCA is an Imagine Canada standard organization, we care about raising healthy and resilient kids, and we strive to ensure youth feel confident and supported. The YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the province and heavily invest in programs for youth: we provide youth mental health services, employment services, and school-based programs. We also deliver immigrant services, such as English language learning and we are involved in global initiatives and chronic disease management.
Our organization has 4,000 volunteers and staff to support more than 116,000 children, youth and adults across the Lower Mainland. We help those who are vulnerable, promote healthy living, and reduce isolation.
We help those who are vulnerable, promote healthy living, and reduce isolation. We are determined to help create a community where we share a sense of social responsibility; experience better health; and where children and families can thrive.
Our vision is to build a community in which a generation of children and families reach their potential. This is the community we want.
