Surrey Muse Arts Society (SMAS) is committed to inclusivity and equality, and wishes to create opportunities for everyone in the arts communities regardless of race, ethnicity, social or economic status, gender, disability, sexuality, religion or any other similarly restrictive category.
Purposes
a) Encourage the production, sharing and appreciation of art and literature in Surrey and the Greater Vancouver area through readings, presentations, publications, workshops and arts activism
b) Create supportive platforms for local and visiting writers and artists to share perspectives and participate in conversations with members of the local community
c) Bring together, through art and literature, Surrey’s diverse communities
d) Encourage inclusivity, representation and voice in the arts community
Since COVID
Our method to receive donations was direct contact, since March of this year, we are having online gatherings, while the rest of our system has not been fully digitized. This has resulted in loss of donations.
We use donations to pay honorarium to our featured authors, poets, performers and a cross-genre open mic opener.
