Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC)

JABC has been a leader in youth business education for 65 years. Delivering a wide selection of educational programs that focus on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship, our mission is to inspire, prepare and empower youth for lifelong success. Teachers request JA programs as they align with the B.C. curriculum and are provided free of charge.
With the support and cooperation of local business volunteers, JA brings real-world experiences into the classroom and directly to the students. JABC programs currently have five delivery options:1) in-classroom teacher lead; 2) online teacher lead; 3) in-class teacher lead with volunteer support; 4) in-class volunteer led; and 5) online student-directed. Each program delivery reaches approximately 26 students and costs a total of $1,000. These costs include the JABC provided student, volunteer and teacher program resources, as well as all support materials including on-line resources, and staff time to schedule and manage volunteers.
During the 2019-2020 school year, 1,486 JA programs reached 40,613 students across the province. While we are immensely proud of the work that we have done, this represents only 11% of the B.C. student population. In order to bring our life-changing programs to every student in the province, we need to secure more donations to cover our program costs.
As family incomes continue to be impacted by COVID, financial literacy skills are more important than ever before. Now more than ever, youth need to be inspired and motivated. We appreciate your support as we work towards expanding our programming so that more students can gain the skills and confidence they need to chart their future and create their own economic success.
