Michael Chang currently works in Grant Thornton's ("GT") Advisory practice, with a focus on distressed and insolvent entities. Prior to joining GT, Michael spent several years leveraging his technical skills to bring clarity on operating decisions across multiple industries. His most notable roles include: Founder of a bookkeeping and advisory practice, Controller of a transportation company, and Consultant on various accounting/ finance matters.
During his undergrad years, he was inspired by his peers to give back and found his passion for youth development in this City. This led him to co-design, execute and manage the SurreyCares' youth leadership program. Michael currently serves with the KPU Alumni Association, CPABC Surrey, Langley North Delta Chapter, and Surrey Board of Trade. These are his other areas of passion: business, education and his profession.
Michael's family landed in Surrey, BC in the late '90s, and he has been proud to call this city his home since going through the school system from K-12. He was raised to leave this world behind slightly better than when he came into it and believes SurreyCares aligns well with this mantra.
Michael holds a BBA in accounting from KPU and is in the final stages of obtaining his CPA designation, specializing in Finance and Performance Management.
