Lionel Courchene Park Legacy
The purpose of this fund is to support enhancements to Lionel Courchene Park for the enjoyment of the community, including those involved in the game of baseball.
A legacy itself, Lionel Courchene Park exists because of a gift of land to the City of Surrey from the family of the late Lionel Courchene. The purpose of the Lionel Courchene Park Legacy Flow-Through Fund is to serve the needs of a growing community and to support minor baseball play in Guildford/Fleetwood communities. Specifically, the park has a longstanding relationship with the Surrey Canadian Baseball Association which was established on March 2, 1976.
To further this legacy, this fundraising campaign has been created in memory of the late Caroline Schellekens, who served as an executive member of SCBA, and who passed away in April 2022. Funds raised will support future park improvements/enhancements that will be directed by the Foundation with input from the City of Surrey, Mr. Craig Joncas (husband of the late Caroline Schellekens), and the SCBA.
