About Our Needs
This is a tough time for Zajac Ranch, as well as for many other charities and businesses around the world. As a non-profit organization that does not receive government funding, our main stream of revenue comes from the school and community groups that we welcome in the spring and fall and that make it possible for us to offer the camp experience to over 500 children each summer, at a reduced cost for the families.
We have now had to cancel all bookings for the upcoming months and are anticipating that we will have to continue doing so, in order to maintain the social distancing needed. This represents a loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars that we will not be able to make up for as we incur in substantial weekly costs, given the need to look after our petting zoo animals, maintain a large facility and pay fixed costs such as utilities and insurance. Most of our year-round staff have either been laid off or gone into work sharing in an attempt to reduce our costs during these difficult times.
