About Our Needs

SSFS is a community gathering place for Indigenous healing ceremonies. There is a 12-bed residential support program where Indigenous men can heal their traumas stemming from Indigenous social history, (Residential and Day Schools, Sixties Scoop, Systemic Racism, etc.). Elders, Mentors and staff engage community participants and residents in the society value of healing trauma through Indigenous culture.
The goal oriented and structured 12-bed transition program provides the opportunity for Indigenous men to move on from homelessness, incarceration or addictions and reconnect with Indigenous culture by establishing community connections, having 1:1 Elder or Mentor supports, participating in ceremonies and skill-building toward healthy lifestyle choices and full participation in their family and community roles.
