News from SurreyCares

December 2, 2010

In August, 2010 over 60 leaders of Surrey Not-For-Profit organizations came together at Simon Fraser University to “Communicate, Collaborate and Celebrate”.  It was here that the Surrey Foundation announced it’s intent to assist local organizations through the SurreyCares initiative.

Topics that were explored were:

  • Non-monetary Issues
  • Communication within the Non-Profit Sector
  • Sharing Resources
  • Role of Business
  • Role of Government
  • Competition and Duplication
  • Raising your Public Profile
  • SurreyCares

Our next step in building SurreyCares is to develop the SurreyCares website -www.surreycares.org .  The first phase of site development will be to include information and stories from local organizations who truly make a difference in our community.

If your organization would like to be featured on the SurreyCares site, please submit the following to info@surreycares.org by December 15, 2010.

  • Pictures
Please provide us with photos of your organization (action shots of programs/services)
    (Max 5 photos)
  • Who/What
Briefly explain your organization and its purpose
    (50 words or less)
  • Personal Story
A heart-touching story about someone who was touched by your organization or a personal story about the impact that your organization has had on people/the community/the environment/etc.
    (150 words or less)
  • Long-term impact
What is the long-term impact of your organization? What is the trickle-down effect? For example, has the impact of your organization on one person helped to decrease welfare/health costs? (Think big picture)
    (50 words or less)

By submitting your information and photos to the Surrey Foundation and SurreyCares, you are agreeing to allow the Surrey Foundation and SurreyCares to use your submissions, at their discretion, to promote SurreyCares, the Surrey Foundation and your organization.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to building SurreyCares with you and deeply thank you for your dedication and commitment to the vitality of our community!

Sincerely,

Kim Angel,
Surrey Foundation
